Front doors are part of the building envelope and can be co-funded as part of the BEG renovation when Ud-values and installation meet the requirements.
Frequently asked questions about front doors
What is the difference between RC2 and RC3?+
RC2 protects against opportunistic burglars with simple tools (3 minutes resistance). RC3 protects against more determined attackers (5 minutes, additional pry tools). For most single-family homes RC2 is sufficient.
Are smart locks safe?+
Yes, modern smart locks use AES-256 encryption and emergency mechanical keys. Battery life is usually 1–2 years with notification before depletion.
How long does installation take?+
Replacing an existing door takes one day, including dismantling, installation and sealing. With masonry adjustments 2–3 days.
Can I keep my old frame?+
In most cases we recommend full replacement (frame + leaf), as old frames often do not meet new thermal requirements. We assess this on site.
How long is the warranty?+
5 years on the door leaf and frame, 2 years on installation. Locks and electronics: separate warranty per manufacturer.
