Frequently asked questions about facades

ETICS or ventilated facade — what is better?+

ETICS is cheaper (approx. €120–€180/m²) and good for typical residential buildings. Ventilated systems are more durable (50+ years), better acoustics, but 30–50% more expensive. We advise based on goals and building physics.

How long does facade renovation take?+

A single-family house: 3–5 weeks ETICS, 5–8 weeks ventilated. Scaffolding, weather and approval requirements may extend the schedule.

Do I need permission for facade work?+

For colour changes in conservation areas yes. Heritage protection requires separate approval. Energy renovation is mostly permission-free, but requires energy advisor confirmation.

How much funding is there?+

BAFA/BEG: 15% basic + 5% iSFP bonus = up to 20% of eligible costs, max. €30,000 per residential unit. Combinable with KfW and proKlima.
