Frequently asked questions
In Lower Saxony, unheated cold conservatories up to 30 m² and under 5 m in height with sufficient boundary distance are usually exempt from approval; open patio roofs are often also exempt depending on dimensions. A heated living conservatory counts as an extension and requires a permit – the building authority of the Hannover Region is responsible. We clarify this in advance and help with the documents.
We plan the glazing and orientation so the view of the hill defines the room – with generous glass surfaces on the right side and well-considered shading so it stays comfortable in summer. For south- or west-facing positions we recommend solar-control glass or a louvre roof; for wind from the hill, side glazing. That way you enjoy the view all year round.
If you want to use it year-round, the heated living conservatory with insulation and thermal glass is right. For a sheltered, frost-free garden link, a more affordable cold conservatory is often enough. If you only need weather and sun protection over the terrace, an aluminium patio roof is the slimmest solution. We advise you honestly based on use and budget.
