In Lower Saxony, unheated cold conservatories up to 30 m² and under 5 m in height with at least 3 m distance to the boundary are usually exempt from approval. A heated living conservatory counts as an extension and requires a permit – the building authority of the Hannover Region is responsible. For a hillside location at the Deister we check the local requirements in advance and support you with the documents.
At the foot of the Deister – for example in Egestorf, Hohenbostel or Bantorf – cool downdraught air often slides down from the wooded slope, and rainfall collects differently on slopes. We align the structure to the main wind direction and snow load, plan side glazing as wind protection where needed and design the foundation to suit the terrain. That keeps the seating area usable even on gusty days.
If you want to use it year-round, the heated living conservatory with insulation and thermal glass is right. For a sheltered, frost-free garden link from spring to autumn, the more affordable cold conservatory is often enough. If you only want weather and sun protection for the terrace with a Deister view, an aluminium patio roof with a glass or louvre roof is the slimmest solution. We advise you honestly based on use and budget.
