KfW BEG individual measures for windows 2026
up to €12,000 grant from the federal government (BAFA)
When replacing old windows with energy-efficient models, in 2026 you can receive a grant of 15 % via BAFA (Federal Office for Economic Affairs and Export Control) under the BEG individual measures programme — or 20 % with the individual renovation roadmap (iSFP) bonus. Up to €12,000 per residential unit per calendar year.
How much is the subsidy?
Base funding
15 %
max. €4,500 per unit/year
With iSFP bonus
20 %
max. €12,000 per unit/year
Eligible costs: up to €30,000 without iSFP, up to €60,000 with iSFP — per residential unit and calendar year.
Which windows are eligible?
- U-value Uw ≤ 0.95 W/(m²·K) — all high-quality double and triple glazings with modern profile technology (Gealan S 9000, Veka Softline 82, Aluplast Ideal 7000 etc.)
- Professional installation to current technical standards — connection joints with U-value ≤ 0.30 W/(m·K)
- Thermal insulation glazing — no decorative or garage-only glazings
- Installation within the thermal envelope of the building
iSFP bonus explained
The individual renovation roadmap (iSFP) is a plan drawn up by an energy consultant which summarises and prioritises all reasonable renovation measures for your house. It costs roughly €800–1,500 once and is itself 80 % subsidised under BAFA energy consultancy funding.
With a valid iSFP the funding rate rises by +5 percentage points (from 15 % to 20 %), and the maximum eligible costs double (€30,000 → €60,000 per year and unit). For extensive window replacement projects or multi-family houses this can be decisive.
Application process in 5 steps
- 1Commission an energy consultant (dena expert)
- 2Have the iSFP drawn up (optional, +5 % bonus)
- 3Submit the BAFA application online with the consultant’s BzA confirmation
- 4Wait for funding approval — only then award the contract
- 5After installation: submit the contractor confirmation, the grant is paid out
What does NOT count as eligible
- Own work (DIY installation without specialist company)
- Standard windows without thermal insulation requirements
- New build — separate programmes apply (BEG WG / KfW 297/298)
- Measures without prior application
