How it works

5 steps to window funding

  1. 1

Involve an energy efficiency expert (EEE)

BEG funding requires a registered energy efficiency expert (EEE). We coordinate the right EEE for your project.

  2. 2

File the application BEFORE awarding the contract

The BAFA application must be filed before you award the contract – otherwise funding is lost. Together with the EEE we ensure the correct order.

  3. 3

Choose eligible windows (Uw ≤ 0.95)

Only windows with a U-value of at most 0.95 W/(m²K) are eligible. We advise on suitable PVC, aluminium or wood-aluminium models.

  4. 4

    Professional RAL-compliant installation

Professional installation also counts as an eligible cost. We fit to RAL standard – all from one source, including disposal of the old windows.

  5. 5

    Submit proof & receive payment

After completion you submit the proof; BAFA pays out the subsidy. We provide all the documents needed for the installation.

Why window funding in Braunschweig is especially worthwhile

Braunschweig is shaped by dense Gründerzeit ring districts whose period buildings often still carry old, poorly insulating windows. In the surrounding area, the worker and company housing estates around Salzgitter and Peine are added - likewise stock with a high need for renovation. An additional reason for many owners is the GEG (German Buildings Energy Act): when ownership changes, certain renovation obligations can apply, which puts the window replacement on the agenda anyway - and makes it considerably cheaper with the BAFA federal subsidy. VL-Innovativbau takes over the organisational funding process for you: we coordinate the mandatory energy efficiency expert, secure the right application timing (application before the contract is awarded) and install your new windows with a Uw value ≤ 0.95 professionally in line with RAL standards. This way you combine compliance, the maximum grant and noticeably better thermal insulation - subject to funding approval.

Frequently asked questions about funding

BAFA funds with a 15% grant, and up to 20% of the eligible costs with an iSFP (individual renovation roadmap) (up to €30,000, with iSFP up to €60,000). One requirement is, among others, a Uw value ≤ 0.95 - all subject to funding approval.

When ownership changes, certain upgrade or renovation obligations can apply under the GEG (German Buildings Energy Act). This is often the ideal occasion for a subsidised window replacement. We do not provide a legal assessment of your specific obligations - but we show you how the measure and the BAFA federal subsidy can be combined.

Yes, mandatorily. The BAFA application must be in place before the contract is awarded, otherwise the funding is forfeited. In Braunschweig we coordinate the application, the energy efficiency expert and the contract so that the order is correct.
